L.A-THE GROVE

For those of you who didn't know, I am originally from Los Angeles, California. It's where I was born and raised and will forever be my home. I haven't been there in a while but hopefully Jay and I get to go on our road-trip next year that we've planned quite far ahead in advance :) (he's from Los Angeles too, so he gets it).

It's times like these when I feel really out of place on the East Coast. You'd think that from the amount of time I have lived here I would be acclimated to the cold winters, but I am really not. (You can read here about how much I hate the snow). I long for the days when I pull out my cashmere and cable knit sweaters when it hits the low of 55 degrees. Yes. 55.

How sad is that?! I've been in temperature about 20 degrees + less than that for the past few months. I can't even talk about it, it makes me so mad.

So, as I'm sitting here watching the weather reports like a hawk, I see that Saturday is supposed to be 49 degrees. That is what I am looking forward too.

Talk about California Dreamin'...

Anyways, I thought that I would start a new series of blog posts every once in a while to fuel my missing of the City of Angels and the Golden State in general.

My first one, I'm going to talk about one of my favorite places in the entire world. The Grove.

Now for those of you California natives, and one's who have visited L.A, back me up on this one. The Grove is amazing. You can go any time of day, any time of the year and it will be beautiful. Strung lights throughout, the sister fountain to that of the Bellagio's, the movie theatre, the trolly, the beautiful green with summer time concerts and perfect picnic spots, the rooftop cafe at Barnes & Noble, the J.Crew.

When I am in L.A the Grove is my home. I know it like the back of my hand. Ever since I was a little girl that was my favorite place to spend time at. Everyone needs a space that they feel comfortable at, a place where they can go to to get away from everything. Well this beauty is mine.

The best time to go- Sunset. It is perfect, and beautiful, and gosh I miss it.
Aerial view of the fountains: they go to the beat of the music playing-swoon

Oh hey there's that rooftop cafe I was talking about!

Try and tell me this trolly isn't the cutest touch:  I dare you

J. CREW: SPRING 2014

Once again, J.Crew does not disappoint. I'm absolutely loving the whole sporty trend goin on at the moment, because it is so comfortable and somehow chic. Can it please stay like this forever?!

My personal favorites (shown above) are all from their Looks We Love, and the tagline? 11 answers to the question "What am I going to wear today?"

Um with those choices how could you choose?

I think that the casual style is perfect for the transition into spring! The lighter colors and pairing shorter sleeves with longer pants and vice versa makes me want Spring to be now, even though I wanted that about 2 months ago as well.

MOVIE REVIEW: ENOUGH SAID

If I had to give this movie an honest grade it would be a solid A.  After watching it, I went to check the ratings on Rotten Tomatoes and it got a 96%! A well deserved one might I add.

My mom and I decided to have a movie night, so we lied in bed and chose something from On Demand. I had been wanting to see this movie for months, so I'm so happy I finally got to, and that it lived up to the hype.

The first time I heard about the movie was the day  it came out, when I went with a friend to New York City for the New Yorker Festival and heard teen phenomenon Tavi Gevinson speak. She was so proud to make her debut in the cinematography world in Enough Said, and what a movie to start out on!

The casting was brilliant. How could you go wrong with Julia Dreyfus and James Gandolfini? You can't.

It was a cute, and yet brutally honest romantic comedy about dating in your 50's.  I thought it was a great movie that definitely shone in its simplicity and humor.

I highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a light hearted movie to watch!

Any other good movies that came out recently I should watch?

1RST CLASS FASHION

When the people at 1rst Class Fasion reached out to me and asked if I would be interested in doing a feature on them, I was extremely curious to see what and who they were.

Upon visiting their website I was amazed.

First of all, let me just say, I am a huge fan on website designs that are clean and simple and are the perfect mix of modern and elegant. They hit the nail on the head, for sure.

The first thing I read was the CEO's letter, which held the tagline "Turn your photo likes into airplane miles!" Talk about a hook! I had to keep reading.

I learned everything I needed to know about the company, in just a few brief short and sweet sentences.

Collins Ezeuka, the CEO himself is an amazingly successful man. I was confused at first seeing that he is also a full time doctor! Yes, that is right, a doctor who has a passion for fashion and travel. It's so cool!

He was inspired when he was at the airport and took mental notes on the different styles he saw around him, and thought how awesome it would be if people got to go to places based on their style.

Then, 1rst class fashion was born!

It's easy... You upload photos of yourself wearing your favorite outfits, and the rest of the 1rst class community will like your pictures and leave you comments! Whoever has the greatest number of like over 300 in that particular month will win a paid-for round trip plane ticket to anywhere in the world of your choosing!

Awesome right?!

IN SICKNESS...

I've been so sick lately that I can barely keep up with everything that is going on around me.

So, I have been a little M.I.A on the blog but expect some posts to be going up soon!!!

I'm pretty much living on tea and toast, because that's as much as my body can handle at the moment.

This instagram post from the last time I was sick is still very accurate...

COSMETICS

I really don't wear any make-up at all. To me, personally, it's just a waste of time because I enjoy getting my beauty sleep as much as I can in the mornings. The most I do is every now and then a little bit of concealer if need be.

But of course, there are the moisturizers, the hair products, and the lip balms that I use on a daily basis. And for special occasions I will go a little bit more out and maybe add a touch of mascara or color to my lips but otherwise, I go au naturel.

Because to me at least, natural beauty, is the best kind of beauty.

WEEK IN REVIEW

50+ Followers!
This week I hit over 50 followers! It's crazy I'm so close to hitting the big 1-0-0.
When  I started this blog, I didn't expect everything to happen so quickly, but I am so thankful and glad that it has. It is already opening new opportunities for me, and allowing me to connect with some amazing people. It's been so fun watching it grow and I can't wait to see what is to come.

The Bakeshop-Brooklyn
After reading Carly's post about what seems to be the cutest bakery here, I knew I wanted to go! I'm aching to get back into the city for a day trip and I would love to explore Brooklyn, since I've never been. Hopefully I can make it there soon and try out this cute little place.

Lilly Pulitzer Anastasia Dress
This dress and I are a match made in heaven, obviously only soley for the fact that we share the same name! But seriously, the subtle zebra print on the navy is perfection.

Scandal is back!
One of my friends the other day used this line, "Someone better call Kerry Washington because there's about to be a scandal". And I choked on my water from laughing so hard. I love this show, and Olivia Pope is my favorite TV character hands down. So I couldn't be happier that the show is back in full swing after their short hiatus.

Frozen spoof
When Jay sent this to me, I was expecting to just listen to one of my favorite songs from one of my favorite movies, but as I started singing I realized the words didn't match up. So I went back, replayed it, and could not stop laughing about how they were able to recreate the song with these lyrics.
