PROMPOSAL

Since I have the world's greatest boyfriend, I got the world's greatest promposal!
A couple weeks ago Jay told me, very adamantly mind you, that he did not want to go to prom.
At first, sure I was a little sad but I got over it pretty quickly and figured whatever we would do instead would either be just as good or better, not to mention there is always next year for us to go-
Until yesterday morning, when I woke up to 6 clues all over my social media sphere.
It turned out to be a code, and once deciphered, I figured out a time, location, and date.
When I showed up today to the place where he asked me out 11 months and 6 days ago, on the slide that I was lying on that day was 'Prom?' written in huge construction paper letters, and a super-cute guy waiting for me above with a bouquet of gorgeous flowers.
It was a perfect surprise and he never fails to make me happy :)

PHOTOSHOOT

As an early birthday present, my mom arranged for me to get my hair and makeup done at a local, fabulous, dry bar and then to get professional photos taken!
It was such a great day, and I had so much fun. My makeup was perfectly natural,  my hair was perfectly wavy. And I was perfectly happy.
Following the photo shoot, I went out to see a movie with Jay and my family and then some fro-yo.
(basically a perfect day)
I can't wait to show you all the photos once I get them-they are pretty awesome if i do say so myself
Here are a few pictures from my day :)

GETTING NAUTICAL

While everyone always talks about how much they love all things nautical (i.e sailboats) how many of you all actually get down to the nitty gritty?

Well, I do! I absolutely love to sail, and I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to be on my school's Varsity sailing team. Who would have thought a small suburb of New Jersey would have a sailing team, right?

Our seasons are Fall and Spring, and since the Spring season just started I thought I would write a little bit about it.

Sailing is something that has shown me more of who I really am. When I started out from the very first time I went out on the water I knew it was something I was made to do. I have so much fun, and there truly is no feeling like the one you get when you're racing in high winds, with the water spraying all around you.

But, sometimes it can be a little scary, and yes, there are times when I do not want to go. The problem is that we start when the water (and air) is still freezing, which makes it already less enjoyable, but then if you capsize and fall in, and water gets into your drysuit it's a terrible experience. When that happened to me a couple weeks ago, I almost got hypothermia and it took me 2 weeks to want to get back out there, and even then it took some pushing. But once I pulled through it, and let the anxiety wash over me, I remembered all over again why I fell in love with the sport in the first place.

Here are some pictures from my favorite regatta that was held at
the Coast Guard Academy in CT!

NEW YORK CITY

On Monday, Jay, Juan and myself took a fun day trip into the city.  The main reason for us going was because Juan had a job interview later in the day, and so we used it as an excuse to make a whole day out of it.

It was Jay's first time in the city in about 4 years, (crazy, i know), and so we opted for a few "touristy" places just for fun.  When we came out of Penn, we had a plan to make our way up to Rockefeller Center to pay a visit to the NBC store (hello, The Office and Chuck). On the way there, we passed through Times Square and kept on running into stores to get away from the 20 degree weather even for just a few minutes, and our main stops ended up being Toys R Us, Disney, and the M&M store.

Once we made it to NBC studios we had some fun looking around, and then walking through the mini shopping center down stairs. When we got tired of that we headed over to a Sbarro to get some pizza and relax for a bit before Juan's interview. We ended up walking up to the restaurant in the UES and Jay and I goofed around in a Starbucks across the street for about an hour waiting for him (He got the job!!!!)

After that we grabbed a cab downtown to go see Warby Parker so I could try on a few pairs of glasses, and then walked around West Village just taking in all the beauty.

SNOW DAY

I have to say, finding out there would be a snow day today was such a relief last night. I felt miserable and on top of it all I felt overwhelmed and stressed by the amount of studying and homework there was to do. But calling off school alleviated most of that. I went to bed early to try and sleep off whatever it was I was feeling and it sort-of worked. Until I woke up this morning, looked out my window and could barely see anything past the never-ending sheet of white snow.

Even after living on the East Coast for about 8 years, I STILL haven't fully adapted to the winter weather. I don't think I ever will, because I am simply not suited for the cold, wet, gross snow. I much prefer wearing shorts and a t-shirt and walking around in the sunshine rather than trudging through snow that reaches the top of my boots.

Well anyhow, there is no denying that snow has certain potential to be quite beautiful every now and then. So, I bundled up and took out my mom's new camera to snap a few pics. I have to say it was worth it, and also I do not plan to be leaving my house anymore today (the snow is almost up to my waist now).
